Scholarships for HS Students: Deadlines Coming Up

Emerson College in Boston, MA, offers two pre-college summer programs:
Studio Programs: Programs in acting, musical theatre performance, stage design, filmmaking, and creative writing.
Institutes:  Communication DisordersJournalism, or Political Communication. Learn about our one, three, and five-week summer institutes.

Koke‘e Summer Internship - deadline March 15
Applications for the Koke‘e Resource Conservation Program's 2016 Summer Internship Program are currently being accepted. Application and all requested paperwork are due no later than 5 pm Hawai‘i time on March 15, 2016. Applicants will be notified of acceptance to the program no later then the first week of April. Intern must be 18 years of age when the internship starts. Internship is May 31-July 22, 2016.
Applications are accepted through postal mail and email only. They require an 8 consecutive week minimum commitment. Internship may be extended up to 12 weeks upon staff approval and availability of funds. Extensions will be based on the intern's performance during the first 5 weeks. 
Housing is provided at historic Community Civilian Corps Camp in Kōkeʻe. A living allowance of $125 per 40 hour week is provided, depending on grant funding.

Merriman's Culinary Scholarship - deadline May 15
For students who plan to enroll as full-time students in the Food Service program at any college campus on the Big Island, Maui or Kauai. See Joan for an application form.

Zonta Club of Hanalei Scholarship - deadline March 22
Based on academic achievements, volunteer/community service, interview, essay submission and financial need. $1000 awards. Applications available in Joan's office or at www.zontaclubofhanalei.comDUE: March 22, 2016.

Kaua'i North Shore Lions Club - Deadline: March 31
Applicants must live on the north shore between Moloa'a and Hāena. Scholarships are awarded based on financial need, academic performance, leadership, community involvement and volunteerism. Applications are available in Joan's office or online at www.kauainorthshorelions.org. Last year, the Club awarded more than $19,000 to help students with college expenses.


Kaua'i County Farm Bureau - Deadline: March 31
Four $1000 scholarships will be awarded to Kaua'i residents studying an agricultural related field (e.g. general agriculture, animal science, aquaculture, etc.). Open to high school graduating seniors, undergraduate students and graduate students. Applications available in Joan's office.



Kaua'i Board of Realtors Scholarship - deadline March 31
Applications available in Joan's office. Based on merit, not need. DUE: March 31, 2016Kaua'i Board of Realtors typically awards several $1000 scholarships.


Ethan Shell Scholarship - deadline April 15
Applications are now being accepted for the 2016 Ethan Shell Scholarship! Talented high school seniors or 1st year college students on Kaua‘i planning on attending college to pursue a formal education in performing arts are welcome to apply. Deadline is April 15, 2016.
