Students Unroll Priceless Hawaiian Artifact

Na Pua O Ka Maile, our hula halau, visited the Grove Farm Museum last week to see their makaloa mat. After washing their hands these 4 students unwrapped this priceless Hawaiian artifact. Moises Madayag, curator, coached them on how to handle it correctly.

Rosie and Sabra are teaching the students the Oli Mahalo, a chant expressing gratitude. The makaloa mat is mentioned in the first line of that chant. It is a symbol of the highest hospitality.
