Seeing How Government Works

Mr. Denny’s high school U.S. Government juniors and seniors attended a Kaua’i County Council meeting this week. The students learned about our legislative process through testimony regarding five major county projects totalling $7.15 million. Council Chairman Rapozo paused meeting briefly to welcome Island School students, and Councilmembers Yukimura and Kagawa met the class personally during a recess.

As a homework assignment, Mr. Denny had the students register to vote. As long as they are 16 years old or older, they can register, even though voting age is 18.
