Faculty Attend Leadership Summits

Shannon Graves, Traci Sullivan, Janet Powell and Nathaniel Evslin attended the Hawai‘i Education Leadership Conference (HELS) on O‘ahu on Nov. 2nd. HELS was a one day summit that featured speakers on "Deeper Learning." Deeper Learning focuses on education that motivates students, giving them real life applications to the content of their course work.

Following the HELS Summit, Joe Corbo, Sue Macklin, Cindy Wortmann and Shaunessy Denton joined our group at the two-day Schools of the Future Conference, also on O‘ahu. Almost 2000 educators from Hawai‘i's public, private and charter schools gathered at the Hawai‘i Convention Center to focus on ways to transform our schools and create learning environments of the 21st century.

Our participation was completely funded by a grant from the Kaua‘i Chapter of the Hawai‘i Society for Technology in Education (HSTE) including airfare, registration and a per diem.
