A Message from Shannon Graves:
This morning a police officer stopped by Island School to report that there are drivers who are disregarding the rules of the road leaving our campus and are not coming to a complete stop when exiting Island School. This practice of not obeying the stop sign has upset other drivers with whom we share the road and the officer would like our help in correcting this behavior. Please exercise appropriate rules of the road entering and leaving campus so that we can continue to show our appreciation as we share the access road with other schools and businesses.
As we discuss driving and campus etiquette, I would like to remind you that we do have Parking Lot Protocol we would like you to follow. Parents dropping off and picking up should only use the right lane and it is not for parking or backing into the area in front of the main office. This is an active pick-up/drop off area. The cars should be facing forward and you should quickly drop off or pick up your child in this zone. If you need to walk into a classroom, talk, or wait for your child please use the left lane and drive around to park in a marked stall. These rules are in place so that we do not have traffic jams or long back ups. The safety of our children is the number one priority. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter and your follow through is greatly appreciated.
