Today our High School Spanish Club painted pumpkins like calaveras (skulls) in honor of Día de los Muertos which is celebrated in Mexico November 1-2. Spanish Club member Valeria de la Mora discussed the happy remembrance of loved ones who have passed and the traditions of visiting cemeteries and leaving loved ones’ favorite foods for their spirits to enjoy when they return on Día de los Muertos. We also sampled pan de muerto, a traditional sweet bread shaped like a bun and decorated with bone-like dough pieces. ¡Delicioso! ¡Feliz Día de los Muertos!
