The kindergarten class visited Waipa on the north shore on Wednesday. The keiki peeled kalo and watched it go through the processor, turning it into poi. They fed the peels to the pigs, goats and chickens. Afterwards, they helped harvest the kalo in the lo‘i and removed invasive snails and their eggs from the plants. Uncle Kapule taught them about the many streams that flow through the ahupua‘a and the area's place names.
