Steinbacher Attends American Choral Directors Conference in Utah

Mr. Steinbacher just returned from The American Choral Directors Association's national conference in Salt Lake City, Utah. With over 5,100 public school, private school, church, college, university, and community choral directors and 5000+ singers school age to adult, it is ACDA's largest national conference and likely the largest choral convention ever held.

At the conference, Mr. Steinbacher participated in 40+ hours of real time continuing education in the area of choral skills, performance, and literature. The conference featured performances from the very best choirs in the United States as well as some from Cuba and the United Kingdom. Composers, publishers, conductors, educators, administrators, and students all gathered at this unique professional conference. Highlights included hearing the official chorus of the United States Air Force, The Singing Sergeants, perform The Star-Spangled Banner, The University of Michigan Men's Glee Club, The King Singers, and various honor choirs made up of students selected from choirs and choruses across the U.S. The event culminated in a massive concert where the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, the Temple Square Orchestra, and 1500+ honor choir singers joined together for a performance at the 21,000 seat LDS Conference Center.

"It was an awesome event," Mr. Steinbacher said, "and something I will never forget. I can't find the words to describe it, except to say it was very inspiring."

Funds for this conference were provided from our Professional Development budget.
