I.S. KIF Wrestlers Qualify for States

Island School made a strong showing in KIF Wrestling this year, finishing with two Voyagers qualifying for the 2015 Chevron State State Wrestling Championships held March 6 and 7 at the Neil Blaisdell Arena on Oʻahu.

Freshmen Summer Suttell and Kenneth Niheu will represent Kauaʻi in the 122lb girlsʻ and 170lb boys' weight classes.

Although their teammates Damia Cain and Eosin Chelius, also freshmen and first year wrestlers, did not advance to States, they too performed well by earning several second place medals at the KIF meets this season.

Senior and third year wrestler David Caminos had a season ending injury right before the official wrestling season, but he has supported the Voyager team by helping to mentor and coach his younger teammates.

Although the 2014-15 season is wrapping up, off season practices will be held over the course of the year. Interested students are welcome to come by to observe and/or participate. Information regarding off season practices will be available soon. Kudos to Coach Cobb-Adams for a terrific season.
