 "A Painted Garden" for  teens - adults taught by Kaua‘i artist, Dondi Ho.
Learn to paint island flowers with colored pastels, using principles that are foundational to any medium.

Modeling Classes Begin Saturday, March 21

On the last day of class, will be "on location." Students will be in a photo shoot and will take home two shots from the shoot to begin their portfolio.  They will also be in a short commercial and receive a digital copy to take home.  Finally, they will be in a real fashion show!  The school will host a fashion show highlighting local designers and all the graduating students! 

This class is designed to not only educate aspiring talent, but to boost the self esteem of every shape and size that comes through our doors.  Our goal is to have each girl find what makes the them truly unique and leave our class radiating from the inside out!

 

Hawai‘i Children's Theatre Summer Stars

Registration is now open for both the Rising Stars Morning Workshops and the Afternoon Summer Stars Workshop Program which will culminate in a performance of Disney's Alice in Wonderland, Jr. at the Kauai Performing Arts Center.

Program registration is open to any young person, regardless of experience. Scholarships are available.


Driver's Ed Classes

Aaron Tokuda of Head On Driving School is starting driver's ed classes at Island School beginning April 1. The first class will be held at 4:30 in the Ohia Room and the remaining days and times will be decided by the students. Students will not be driving in this class and do not need to have their learner's permit. For more information and to sign up, call Arron at 652-7425.

KJGA membership is open to both male and female juniors who meet the following qualifications:
- Between the ages of 7-18 by July 18, 2015

- Have not reached their 19th birthday and have not entered college

Membership is from Jan. 1 - Dec. 31 with a $95 annual fee for the first member and $65 for each additional sibling. Additional fees may apply during the season. Membership includes:

Taste of Hawai‘i Tickets On Sale

The Rotary Club of Kapa`a is busy getting ready  for this year's Taste of Hawai‘i on Sunday June 7th at 11:30 am at Smith's Tropical Paradise. You can now purchase your tickets online. The monies from this Rotary Fundraiser provides the means to serve the community of Kaua‘i in the areas of Youth, Community and Vocational. We awarded $14,000 in college scholarships this year to high school seniors, supported programs in all Kapa‘a Schools, gave each 3rd grader a dictionary, and awarded 10 students scholarship to this year's Rotary Youth Leadership awards which was held in Koke`e. Spread the word about Kaua‘i's awesome food feast and help us raise money for Kauai!

Kaua‘i Student Writer Program - May 1-3

There are a lot of programs on Kaua‘i for athletes, dancers, musicians, actors, singers and more. But what if you want to be a writer?

The 2015 Kaua‘i Writers Conference / Student Writer Program will offer High School and College age writers a chance to develop their skills and meet other writers at our May 2015 event, as well as through year-round efforts meant to help them realize their potential. The program will include:
  • A limited number of Full Scholarships for students to attend the three-day conference

  • A FREE Conference session specifically for young writers with participation from some of KWC’s 2015 best-selling Authors and publishing industry faculty. Participants will receive a “Writer’s Tool Kit” providing resources new writers can use to start out on their paths to self-expression.

  • An invitation to student authors to submit their writing for possible inclusion in a live KWC Reading Event scheduled six months after the 2015 conference.

  • An opportunity to receive on-going mentoring from experienced writers at Write-On Kauai, the Kauai writers’ group that initiated and runs the conference.
