3rd Graders Visit Lihu‘e Cemetery

To enrich their study of their community, the 3rd grade class visited the Lihu‘e Cemetery this week.
With help from Mrs. Liesse and Kumu Kauka, they found the graves of the Wilcox and Goodale families. They also read names on the markers and identified the many different cultures and practices of those buried there. Kumu spoke with them about Hawaiian traditions about death and burial.

Mrs. Liesse takes her class to the Lihu‘e Cemetery every year to learn more about Kaua‘i's history and cultures.
