7th Graders Learn About Genetic Traits
Ka‘ohu Ranis & Kaeo Rezentes
Mrs. Sullivan's 7th graders have been dissecting flowers in science. This is to better understand
how Gregor Mendel bred pea plants to investigate how traits are passed
from parents to offspring. Parents of these students should be prepared to be asked questions about hitchhikers thumb, attached earlobes, and
widows peak because they want to know where their dominant and recessive
traits came from! They might even be able to tell you if you are
heterozygous or homozygous for a specific trait! Go ahead, ask them the
difference between genotype and phenotype! Goooooo Science!
