Middle School Students Create Reproduction of Masterpiece

Middle School students just finished a "puzzle reproduction" of Georges Seurat's pointillist masterpiece "Sunday on La Grande Jatte." Two classes of sixth, seventh, and eighth grade students painted the large mural, which contains 186 squares. They made all the colors with only red, blue, yellow and white paint and used Seurat's principle of optical mixing – the juxtaposition of different colored dots to create the illusion of outdoor light. Stop by the art room and see their work.

Chemistry Students Learn About Molecular Attraction

In Honors Chemistry, students are learning how to identify unknown samples using chromatography paper. The compounds that have a stronger molecular attraction to the chromatography paper will travel through the paper slower than compounds that have a weaker molecular attraction to the chromatography paper.
