A word about the tropical storms

We are monitoring the progress of the impending storms closely. At present, we plan on keeping next week's schedule as it has been outlined but may alter plans as needed. We will be sure to keep you abreast of any changes as the information warrants. Your families' safety is our first priority.  Check your emails and the Voyager Voice for updates.

Middle/High Students interested in Science Olympiad - Movie Night Tomorrow

The Island School Science Olympiad Program would like to invite you to a free movie night before the school year gets started. Dr. Kozak, Mrs. Sullivan and Mr. Corbo attended this year's Science Olympiad Summer Institute and already know all the events for this year's competition. If you attend our Free Movie Night on Wednesday, August 6, 6:00 p.m., outside of room 7, they will give you a preview of this year's events and show the 1995 film, "Apollo 13." This event will take place between 6pm and 8:30pm. Students from grades 6-12 are welcome to attend. 

Please contact Joe Corbo ( if you plan to attend so they can provide enough pizza and drinks for everyone. 

Note: attendance at this gathering is not mandatory for participation in Science Olympiad.

High School Students - have you ordered your books yet?

High School students who have not ordered your high school textbooks, MBS Direct (Island School's Virtual Book Store) is now OPEN!

Please check your schedule on RenWeb to determine the books you will need for the upcoming school year.  If you don't have your RenWeb account set-up yet, please call the school office for assistance. 

Here's the link to our online book store:  High School students should have their textbooks at the start of classes.  Classes begin on Monday, August 18, 2014.

If you have pre-ordered your school logo wear and PE uniforms, please pick up in the IS Logo Store (located in the school office).  Same day exchanges will be allowed-limited to stock on hand.

Head Search Advisory Committee schedules "Listening Meetings"

Board Member, Mary Capwell, is heading up the search for a new head of school. Communicating with our 'ohana during this process is a major goal. Input from parents, faculty, staff, students - all segments of the Island School community - will be collected via a series of gatherings called "Listening Meetings." Meetings for parents have been scheduled as follows:
  •  Monday, August 25   2:00 pm and 6:00 pm - Location to be announced
  •  Tuesday, August 26   8:00 am - Location to be announced
