Island School Holiday Service Program“Holiday Hanai Family” Program for Grades 6-12, 2014
As a holiday giving project, students in grades 6-12 are being given a great opportunity to help families who are less fortunate. They are invited to collaborate with Child & Family Service Kaua‘i and the Queen Liliu‘okalani Childrenʻs Center to provide seven different families with gifts based on a family profile. Those who wish to participate are asked to find gifts for their "hanai family" and bring them into their homeroom or class adviser for distribution.
During homeroom and class meetings, students will brainstorm the kinds of gifts that fit their family’s needs. Parents are encouraged to find ways for their student to earn money at home that can then be contributed toward gifts and gift cards.
Students have received brief descriptions of their hanai families and their wish lists. They are encouraged to share these at home and decide if they wish to participate in this effort.
Gifts should be unwrapped and brought in to their homeroom classes or the student activities office beginning on Monday, December 15th. The deadline for gifts is the last day before break Friday, December 19th.
