This Weekʻs Classifieds/Community Events

Help Needed For Art Day
  • Artistsʻ Luncheon Coordinator. This job entails organizing the potluck lunch for the artists and volunteers on Art Day. Two or three parents could share this job. Please contact Penny Nichols for more information at penny@ischool.or
  • Square egg trays needed: Anyone with a restaurant connection: we need lots of square "egg trays" (the gray ones that restaurants get their eggs in). We could use a stack six feet high!
  • Sewing Machines: Cristy and Joan are offering a high school quilting workshop - making tiny quilts for preemies. Machines should be in good working condition. (They promise to take good care of them.) If you can lend your machine, please email cristy@ischool.org, and plan to deliver it to her classroom by Monday, October 20. Volunteers from Kaua‘i Quilters Guild will be mentoring the students - so your machines will be in good hands.
  • Also needed:  small cardboard boxes, large pieces of heavy cardboard, quart-sized plastic containers (with or without lids),fabric scraps:  solid colors and children's prints.
Bring your donations to the art room or leave them in the front office labeled "For Penny."

Book & Bake Sale
Kapa‘a Friends of the Library is having its annual book and bake sale on Friday, Oct.3, and Saturday, Oct. 4. Friday is for members only and goes from 5-8pm. Saturday is from 10 to 6 and is open to everyone. The Coconut Festival and Kapa‘a Art Night are also happening on Saturday, so it's a fun stop to make while enjoying all the festivities.  Great prices on books in excellent condition, with a special section just for kids and young adults. This is the library's only fundraiser of the year, so they need our support.
Community Service Opportunity - Volunteers for the book and bake sale are needed from Thurs. afternoon thru Sat. evening. Students can get community service credit hours for any time spent helping.  Contact Maria Walker for more information at maria.makaleha@gmail.com.
