Introducing Spanish Teacher, April Larsen

New to our Foreign Language Department this year is Spanish teacher, April Larsen. She is a recent resident of Kaua‘i, having spent most of her life in Utah, Southern California and the north shore of O‘ahu. She studied journalism and international studies at Utah State University, earning a bachelor of arts degree.

April brings with her an interesting and diverse background. This includes serving as an athletic mentor and tutor in college and spending 1½  years as a full-time volunteer missionary in Los Angeles. In addition, she was production assistant and stage manager for sports and entertainment at several major TV networks for six years. She also spent three years as a professional technical writer.

April enjoys the sense of community at Island School. She appreciates how people here are proactive and make things happen. She is happy to be teaching and to find ways to express her creativity.
