Deanna Sloger ʻ15, Crowned Miss Kaua‘i Veteran

Congratulations to senior, Deanna Sloger, who won the Miss Kaua‘i Veteran competition. She was crowned last evening in a ceremony at the Kaua‘i Veterans Center in Lihu‘e. According to their website, "Miss Kauai Veterans is a Scholarship Pageant [that] allows young women to exemplify the best that you can be." It is open to Kaua‘iʻs senior women with a GPA of 3.0 or higher, and who is a relative of a U.S. veteran. Deannaʻs father, both grandfathers and a great grandfather all served in the U.S. military.

Deanna was awarded a $1000 college scholarship and will be featured in next monthʻs Veterans Day Parade. She will also appear in various veterans events throughout the year of her reign.

Deanna was selected from 11 contenders. "This has been a really fun experience," said Deanna. "I encourage others to try for it next year." Deanna is the daughter of Thom and Dora Sloger of Port Allen.
