Alaka‘i Chorus Plans Trip to Ho‘olokahi Festival in February

The Music Department at Island School is making plans to take the Island School Alaka‘i Chorus (high school) to O‘ahu in February 2015 to participate in the fifth annual Ho’olokahi Festival All-State High School Choral Festival. This event, organized by the Hawai‘i Chapter of the American Choral Directors Association, gives Hawai‘i high school singers an opportunity to sing challenging music with a top notch choral clinician. Over 250 high school singers from across the state will join together to rehearse for two days before presenting a culminating concert at the Central Union Church in Honolulu. In the past, Island School has been the only neighbor island school to participate in the festival, and last year took fifty-eight students. We have traditionally had the largest number of students in attendance. While participation in the trip is optional, Mr. Steinbacher is encouraging all high school chorus members to take advantage of this exciting opportunity. Interested students will be asked in the near future to make a commitment to attending. Please contact Mr. Steinbacher at for additional information.
