Our food booth grossed over $40,000 - $700 more than last year. Our expenses haven't yet been tallied, but we will announce our net profits as soon as we can. Profits will be deposited directly into class activity funds for special purchases and events throughout the year.
Our Steering Committee, under the leadership of Pepe Trask, are to be thanked for their superb organization and for the many hours they spent on this event: Glen Ebesu, Daryl Edwards, Sean Magoun, Deatri Nakea and Alice Pajela.
There are so many people to thank for this success. Staff and faculty pulled shifts, sometimes multiple ones. Students showed up in great numbers and were wonderful sales people on the front lines - wearing their I.S. shirts and showing school spirit. Parent volunteers worked tirelessly as cashiers as well as chopping, cooking and preparing the ono food plates - which were well received by the hungry fair-goers.
A special mahalo to our Champion Volunteers who, after multiple shifts on Sunday, helped Sean cart everything back to Island School after the Fair. They didn't "clock out" until 12:30 a.m. this morning!
More on this event as the numbers come in.
