Island School Nominated for HIKI NŌ Award

Congratulations to Jacob Dysinger '14, Sam Goldberg '15, and Quentin Allen '15, whose video, "Albatross" was nominated for a 2014 HIKI NŌ Award for Best Overall News Story, High School Division. Eighty schools in the state submit multiple student news stories during the year, which are aired on the Thursday night PBS program, HIKI NŌ. Island School was the only Kaua‘i high school nominated in any category this year. There are four categories in which schools are nominated.  Chiefess Kamakahelei Middle School was nominated in the middle school division.

All nominated stories from around the state will be featured at the HIKI NŌ Festival next Tuesday, August 26, at 6:00 at the Historic Waimea Theatre. The public is invited. Winners will be announced in a live stream on Wednesday, Sept. 17, at PBS.org. Leslie Wilcox, CEO of PBS Hawai‘i will present the winners with a $500 contribution to the video production program at their school.
